CHENNAI: Chennai's third mofussil bus terminus would come up at Kuthambakkam, about 34 kilometres off Chennai-Bengaluru national highway, near Thirumazhisai.
Deputy chief minister O Panneerselvam, who holds the portfolio of the housing and urban development department, announced in the legislative assembly that the new bus terminus would come up in an area of 20 acres at Kuthambakkam. The bus terminus would be constructed at a cost of Rs 150 crore, he added.
According to the sources in housing and urban development department, the new bus terminus would be a facility to shift west-bound buses from the Chennai mofussil bus terminus at Koyambedu. While a mofussil bus terminus was opened for Andhra Pradesh and Tiruvallur bound fleets, another facility is being constructed at Kilambakkam on GST Road for buses bound for southern districts.
